2020 is coming to an end, and what a demanding year this has been for everyone all over the world. Every person has been impacted in a way we never envisioned, and we have all lived a hugely different year than intended. But even during these tough times, the resolve of the human spirit has seen no limits.
We have been incredibly lucky here at Avalanche, our industry is one of the few to thrive and we count ourselves incredibly blessed to be able to say that 2020 has been our most productive year in terms of business since inception. It has been a crazy year for Avalanche & I am looking forward to the break as we have been going pretty much 7 days a week all year, such has been the demand for eCommerce & web design all over the world with businesses everywhere pivoting due to the pandemic.
In 2020, Avalanche sites have processed over €5M worldwide in sales and this is an absolutely crazy figure for what I still see as a small firm finding its feet. On top of commitments to all our ongoing clients, we have also managed to launch a new website every 5.7 days in 2020, so you can see why we are a little burnt out!
Personal highlights include working closely with Kerry GAA & it’s subsidiaries, Fexco, Monex, Elavon & the host of small businesses that let us be a small part of their journey taking them through the whole eCommerce experience, seeing these businesses go from being wary of moving online to then-thriving is incredibly fulfilling & it is a privilege to be a tiny part of that.
We have even begun building a full-scale EPOS eCommerce store for Ireland’s oldest business to launch in January 2021, operating since 1828, that is mad considering I have our 10-year mark in 2022 already down as a big anniversary!
I would like to thank everyone who has chosen to work with us this year, new clients we were lucky enough to welcome & those who continue to place their confidence in us to create & push boundaries for them online.
Most importantly in the current climate, we have managed to work with several charities and local communities and give back in our usual capacity (Over €50,000 in donations, equipment, sponsorship & fundraising), especially this year as these services suffered more than most as everyone tightened their belts.
I would encourage everyone to try and support the causes close to you as much as possible in the coming weeks & months.
Of course, all of this would not be possible without the fantastic team that we have come together at Avalanche. A huge thank you to Steph, Francis, Tommy, Alan & Conor for their work during the year, most notably for your patience in dealing with me!
2021 will no doubt bring its own set of challenges & we look forward to tackling them in what will be our 9th year in business. A record-breaking year but we still feel like we are only getting started, pushing the limit of what we can create with new technologies, coding and eCommerce capabilites.
Merry Christmas & a safe, happy, and prosperous New Year to you and yours from all at Avalanche.
Aidan out.
